With the weather warming, it's the perfect time to indulge in chilled wines. I love my reds, and found a "chillable red" that is exactly what I'm looking for: bright, fresh, fruity without being flabby or jammy. Overall, it's just easy and delicious, and being affordable makes it even easier.
Plaimont Papa Roc checks all the boxes. It is a 60% tannat / 40% Cabernet Sauvignon "glouglou" blend from Gascony in Southwest France on our shelf at $14.99.
It's fresh fruit, bright acidity, and structure make it a great complement to a wide number of foods. I strongly agree with the "BBQ and grilled meats" recommendations on the label.
Beyond tasty wine, Plaimont is a community co-op dedicated to sustainable farming and the "rescue and re-planting" of dozens of "lost" and indigenous grape varieties. I have personally enjoyed everything I've had from them thus far.
If you haven't had their wines, Papa Roc is a great place to start!
