Located in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Tronquoy takes its name from François Tronquoy, who first established the estate in the 18th century. The property remained in the Tronquoy family until 1968, before later being managed by Jean Texier and his wife Arlette Castéja-Texier.

In 2006, Martin and Olivier Bouygues, owners of Château Montrose, acquired the estate and launched major investments in both the vineyard and winery, elevating the quality and precision of the wines. The 2019 vintage marked an important transition for the château, as the estate officially shortened its historic name from Château Tronquoy-Lalande to simply Château Tronquoy. Château Tronquoy is situated on one of the highest points of Saint-Estèphe, with vineyards planted on deep gravel and clay soils ideally suited to the production of structured, age-worthy wines. Benefiting from the same technical expertise and philosophy as Château Montrose, the estate has become increasingly recognized for producing wines that combine the power and depth typical of Saint-Estèphe with a more refined and polished style.

The 2019 vintage offers a particularly compelling expression of the estate, showing layers of dark fruit, graphite, spice, and fresh minerality supported by refined tannins and excellent balance.

“As I wrote earlier this year, the 2019 Tronquoy-Lalande has turned out beautifully, and it continues to show very well, offering up inviting aromas of wild berries, spices, rose petals and cassis. Medium to full-bodied, layered, and sensual, with lively acids, ripe tannins, and a long, vibrant finish, it's reminiscent of a somewhat more sun-kissed and extroverted sibling of the terrific 2016 at this address.”

93 Points, William Kelley, Robert Parkers Wine Advocate

“This is really complex and perfumed, with an extremely attractive bouquet of flowers and dark fruit, such as currants. Full-bodied with crushed stones and chewy tannins, yet there’s polish and sophistication to it. Serious bottle here. Try after 2025.”

94 Points, James Suckling
