We have experienced a massive trend towards Sauvignon Blanc from the Loir Valley in France, known as Sancerre. Perhaps customer palates are favoring the mineral driven expressions of Sauv Blanc over the tropical fruits that were center stage for so long.
We have a wonderful assortment of Sancerres to choose from. Andre Vatan Les Charmes is our most recent addition to the line up. Andre Vatan is the 4th generation winemaker to steward the land and wine, and the wine is reflective of that legacy experience.
It is crisp, clean, and refreshing at only 12.5% abv. There are mineral-driven citrus notes of lemon, orange, and white grapefruit, supported by stone fruit notes of young peach and apricot.
It is our most affordable Sancerre, coming in under $30. Additionally, we have a 375ml "split" (perfect for the Hollywood Bowl, and our only Sancerre split), with no "odd size tax" that often occurs when purchasing a wine other than the industry standard 750ml.
Food pairings are going to be salads, seafoods, light poultry with herbs, and light cheeses.
